Unforgettable Memory

When I was in the first grade of junior high school, I joined a scout activity in Kokop district camping ground. The scout activity was held on Friday till Sunday 11 – 13 August 2006 in Kokop district camping area. It is not so far. It is only two kilometers on the western of my school. Before that, I was not interested in joining that activity because I had ever joined when I was in elementary school. But my teacher and friends suggested me to join, so I decided to join it. There were many preparations before we left to camping ground. Two weeks before we left to comping ground, all scout members of and I prepared all necessities we needed. It was some necessities for tent, and also learned about several activities. Besides, we also had to make some fence of tent which was made from bamboo, made a main entrance of tent and also other necessities.On Saturday afternoon, I had prepared all equipments I needed for camping. So I was not afraid of missing something I needed. I could sleep and took a rest calmly in the evening before going camping. Unfortunately, after I went to my school at about 05.30, I realized that I missed one important item at home which was needed very much for scout activity. It was a scout uniform tie. Willy nilly, I was forced leaving. Because of missing my scout tie, it disturbed my mind all the time for the trip to camping ground. Fortunately, there was one of my friend who had two scout ties. So I was not confused anymore because he lent me one. I was happy very much.I arrived at the camping ground at about 07.00 am. There, my friends and I directly made a tent with my friends at the place which was determined in the camping ground. I had finished making the tent at 07.45 because we worked together full enthusiastically. After we finished making the tent, I joined the opening of ceremony. In the afternoon at the first day, I directly joined two competition, the first was a competition of moving water on the bucket by stick. We competed to win it but unfortunately my group was unlucky. The second competition was tie up the stick with a rope based on the scout system. This time I felt happy so much because my team was the third winner. It make my group were more spirit to compete the other competitions.In the evening, there was a campfire. In this event, some students read "Dasa Darma Pramuka" as the opening of first night. There were ten students from different school who did it. In that night was also held a few of performance competition. Every school showed their the best talent and skill to perform in front of numerous students. There was a school that performed a poem, speech, drama, traditional dancing and singing, karate, fashion, and many others. My school also did not want to miss it. My school performed a poem musical. And my group gave me a trust to read the poem. I felt proud could perform the poem musical in spite of my group was not the winner. Because my school had performed well. The time indicated at 11.00 pm. It meat the campfire performance was over.The activity at the next day is traveling. We did the traveling activity began at 08.00 am in the morning. I traveled a large location. There were some kinds of competition in the traveling. The assessment of competition was combined into one mark. From whole of test which in every post. And in every post there was a committee who would test all the participant of traveling. The first test, I translated code Morse into Indonesia. In the second post I got a test of forming a line, so my group had to work each other well in order to get a good mark. The next test in the third post I had to take across a small bridge. In this test, my group was not successful because there was one of my friends who felt down when crossing the bridge. And the last test was we should detect with the senses of something in the boxes covered. It is a great traveling that I joined. Something that made me so proud was that my group got the best mark. It was one of the best point for my group from many kinds of competitions in scout activity.For the last night there would be held the art performance. So, all the school had to perform the best performance to show their talents. There were many kinds of performance fulfilled the beautiful evening. It was the last campfire held in the camping activity. It was fulfilled of audience who watched the art performance. In that event the committee also invited the guest star to entertain the student and audience. It was so fantastic event I knew. I did not realize that it was at 00.00.  I directly go to bed because tomorrow had to join the closing of ceremony.  In the morning, the closing of scout activity was held at 08.00 am. and after closing of ceremony there was a giving of trophy for the best participant. Alhamdulillah, my school was the second best participant from all scout competition. We were very proud with what we had gotten.x

Seberapa pentingkah penguasaan grammar dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris?

Di negara yang memang bahasa resminya bahasa Inggris, mereka tidak perlu belajar grammar untuk bisa berbahasa Inggris. Kenapa? Karena setiap saat -pagi, siang, sore dan malam, dari bangun tidur sampai tidur lagi- mereka berinteraksi dengan orang-orang yang semuanya menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Sementara di Indonesia, kita hampir tidak pernah mendengar orang-orang di lingkungan kita berbahasa Inggris.

Dalam beberapa kasus meski kecil sekali di sebuah keluarga dibiasakan bhs Inggris (dimana ayah dan ibu nya bisa berbahasa Inggris) sehingga anak-anak mereka terbiasa berbicara dalam bhs Inggris. Ini lebih kurang mirip dengan cara anak-anak bule belajar bahasa mereka.

Nah, jika kita tidak berada di lingkungan berbahasa Inggris, maka bukankah mempelajari kaedah dan tatabahasa merupakan satu-satunya cara sehingga kita bisa merangkai kata menjadi kalimat?
Latihan intensif tidak akan membuat kita mahir kecuali kalimat yang kita gunakan untuk berlatih memang telah terstruktur dengan baik dan benar. Practice makes perfect? No. Perfect practice makes perfect!

Jika anda diminta membuat atau mendirikan sebuah bangunan lalu disediakan semua bahan seperti semen. pasir, bata, kayu, paku dsb. maka apakah anda bisa melakukannya? Bisa tidaknya bergantung pada pengetahuan dan penguasaan anda tentang apa yang harus dilakukan dengan bahan-bahan tersebut. Analogi itu sama dengan jika anda disodori sebuah kamus yang berisi kata-kata sebagai unsur kalimat, bisakah anda menyususn sebuah kalimat jika anda tidak tahu kaedah menyusun kata menjadi kalimat yang standar?

My Aunt's House

My aunt’s house is located at Sidingkap street no.05 Kemayoran, Bangkalan. It is not so near by the main road of Bangkalan town. It faces to the north. My aunt has some neighbors.  In the opposite of my aunt’s house there is Mr. Agus’s house. In the right side, there is Mr. Bambang’s house. And in the left side is Mr. Cahyo’s house. My aunt’s house is not so big but clean and comfortable. It has light green color. It is not a  good house because it’s included to a simple style. It has only 7 meters wide and 14 meters length. There is no garden in front of it, because there is only a small road between Agus’s and my aunt’s house.

My aunt’s house has 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. In the front part of the house there are a rest area and a small patio. It also has a small garage in the front part of this house. If we go inside to my aunt’s house, we will meet a cozy living room. It’s exactly behind the rest area . In the living room, there are a television, a telephone, long sofa with small table, fan, etc.  Beside the living room is my aunt’s bedroom. There are  twin cupboards, small table, and a big mirror on the right wall and a mattress. On the mattress there are a blanket, two pillows, a bed cover,

In addition, there is a dining room behind the living room. In this room, my aunt’s family usually eats together and shares each others about their experiences in a day. Beside the dining room, there are two bedrooms. The first is for my cousin’s bedroom and another one is for guest room.  My cousin likes blue color, so he decorates his room with full of blue. His cupboard, bed cover, curtains, chair, and desk are full of blue. And in the guess room, there are a bed with two pillows and a blanket, a long cupboard, and a desk with a chair in the right side of the bed. Behind the dining room, there is kitchen. Because my aunt likes cooking, she has many kitchen tools such as mixer, blander, knives, oven, refrigerator, etc. Usually, he cooks special cooking for me when I spend the night there. And the last room is a bathroom. It is in the left side of the kitchen. There,  also there is a well beside of it.

            My aunt’s house is a quiet area because not so near by the town center. It’s surrounded by a beautiful other houses. And it’s in a really nice location and I feel comfortable  to stay there.  That house is really charming if we look inside.

My Worst Accident

On a Thursday night at about 00.30 a.m, I went home from a play station. I asked my friend, Husni Dani, to take me to my boarding house. At that time, I wanted to take a book of Yasin because I would go to K. Kholoil grave at Martajasah subdistrict, Bangkalan. After that, I asked my friend to take me to K. Kholoil grave. When we were on the way, we got a terrible accident in front of the Glora Bangkalan stadium, exactly on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta Bangkalan. It was the most serious accident that I ever got.

This accident happened when I was in the third grade of senior high school. It began when we drove a motorcycle and wanted to turn at the U-turn road. When we crossed the road, we did not look around first before turning, and unfortunately forgot to switch on the signal light. Suddenly, there was a motorcycle speeding up fast from the north direction, and directly hit my motorcycle from behind. Because the man drove his motorcycle very fast, both motorcycles and he himself were thrown some 10 meters down on the asphalt.

In fact, besides crashing my motorcycle, the man also crashed the sidewalk and laid back on it. His head hurted and bleeded. I thought he was passed away. Yet, he was obviously still alive.

Fortunately, the bad accident did not make me injured eventhough my motorcycle and I were thrown away as far as 5 meters. I just got a little injury on my right foot. To my surprised, my friend who drove the motorcycle was not injured at all. He even directly stood up and came close to me to help stand up.

A few minutes later, the police arrived. They asked Husni dan some eyewitnesses for some xplanation about the accident. And then, they brought Husni and my motorcycle to the police station. They wanted more explanations. Since I got injured on my foot, I could not accompany Husni to go there. One of my friends took me home to my boarding house. Meanwhile, the victim who got serious injured was immediately carried to the nearest hospital.

Based on the police investigation, finally Husni and I were declared guilty. We were claimed to have disobeyed traffic rules such as riding without helmet, having no license, and not switching on the signal light when turning. In consequence, we had to pay a monetary fine. Meanwhile, the family of the family objected the penalty given by the police. They insisted that we be put into the prison.

In the next day, this case continued more complicated. Husni’s and my family tried to solve this problem by compromise. Initially the victim side did not want to change their decision. Yet after my family tried to persuade them patiently and continuously, finally they agreed on the compromise in two conditions. First, Husni’s and my family had to pay the hospital fee of the victim. Second, we had to pay the reparation fee of their motorcycle. Finally, we made an agreement with the victim family, where we had to pay IDR 6.000.000,-

I realized that this accident hurt me very much, but it was very meaningful. It taught me many things here such as how to solve the problem, how to ride safely, how to obey the traffic signs and rules, etc. With it, now I could ride safely for myself and other people.

Endurance is very important to prevent health problems. To increase endurance, the key is to be balanced activity and rest, and eat a healthy balanced diet. Unfortunately, the habits of people who are eating junk food and rarely eat vegetables, make them easy to get sick because her immune system is not good. During you do the daily activity, you will be always faced to kind of firms or virus which is roamed in the free air. This can be not avoided, but you can keep and even increase your endurance system. There are some ways to increase your endurance, such as eating lots healthy foods, fruits and vegetables while also contain much vitamin, doing exercise, taking a rest by sleeping enough, and inhaling the air deeply everytime is also good for our body.

The first main steps you should get attention in enhancing the immune system is eating the foods contain protein and vitamin A, B2, B6, C, D, E and zinc which is researched and believed to enhance immune function. The foods such as bread, rice, egg and a variety of other foods contain carbohydrates that cannot be digested are able to reach the colon intact. And also eat lots of fruits and vegetables such as apples, banana, oranges, potatoes, long green beans, tomatoes and cabbages. So that we are not susceptible to diseases that can be done is an effort to improve your immune system.

Another important thing should you do is dong exercise because this step has many health benefits and also increase your immunity. Doing exercise at least walk on foot for thirty minutes everyday or at least three times a week. By doing exercise, blood circulation and metabolism in yourself increases so that the immune cells in your blood travel freely and work more efficiently.  

Besides, after doing exercise don’t forget drinking much water because your body needs it. Lack of drinking water make you feel very thirsty and it is a sign of dehydration. You should drink at least eight glasses a day, although some experts are now trying to correct it.

After doing many activities a day, of course your body needs to take a rest. You should sleep for seven till nine hours each day. Sleep beneficial for your immune system, so make sure you get healthier body. You will know how many times your body need taking a rest when you are getting up in the morning. Begin eating the fruits and vegetables,

The other ways to increase your immune system is always accustomed to inhale the breathe deeply regularly. This way can also help to keep your immune system. Use chest muscle and muscle between rib bones to produce the air as much as possible when throwing a breath. By throwing a breath, you will inhale more the air freely.

Condition of the immune system determines the quality of life. So that the immune system is fundamental to the health of their role, must be accompanied by a healthy diet that contains lots of protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates. Besides, you should do enough exercise, drink enough water, and sleep regularly. Your immune system needs a healthy, normal diet to work properly because if your body is not healthy, it will be easily attacked by diseases which are either from within or outside the body. So, to maintain and improve our immune system, you should be concerned about the steps as described above.  It can help you to increase your endurance.

All people in a household who are related to the householder are regarded as members of his or her family. A family household may contain people not related to the householder, but those people are not included as part of the householder’s family in census tabulations. Thus, the number of family households is equal to the number of families, but family households may include more members than do families. A household can contain only one family for purposes of census tabulations. Not all households contain families since a household may comprise a group of unrelated people or one person living alone.

On the other definition, family is one or more persons related by blood, adoption, or marriage, living and cooking together as a single housekeeping unit, exclusive of household servants. A number of persons but not exceeding two living and cooking together as a single housekeeping unit though not related by blood, adoption, or marriage shall be deemed to constitute a family

All of us inherit our physical attributes from our parents. However, when you start interacting with the outside world, you realize that they are not good enough to ensure your success, not even sufficient for your survival. When you find yourself in such a situation, what is it that sustains and supports you. The values which were passed on to you by your family make your survival and growth possible. The values such as patience, care, understanding and commitment that were invested and instilled in you, differentiates you from the rest. If you are already a successful person and I don't mean it in the monetary sense only, then it only underlies the values you inherited from your family.

Three decades of research have demonstrated that parent/family involvement significantly contributes, in a variety of ways, to improved student outcomes related to learning and school success. These findings have remained fairly consistent despite the fact that families have undergone significant changes during.

Family offers the environment in which a person learns in early age and at the same time family is the first source of information. That's why it is very important that that source to be trusted and realistic. In this way are put the basis of person's education. The family is fully responsible for the future of its each member.

Some say that family is the foundation of each person's character, in the same way roots are for tree. Everything begins with the fact that children are like mirrors! They reflect everything adults do but in the way they understand it. Later when going to school they will do the same thing, but to the pantheon of idols will be added not just some new members of family, but also teaches and rarely colleagues. After just coping the behavior and manners of certain people, comes a period when child selects what to do and what to say and combining more variants come to a personal one. 

It is known that family inspires values which are more practical than theoretical. That's why it is easier to explain or to teach a child something by showing practically, in examples, whatever is needed to be offered. Why family education proves to be more effective and rapid than any other? Well, the main idea is the fact that the element of trust is present. Children are very impressionable, they very well sense people and if they trust someone they are open for any kind of information.

Parent has important role in several aspects in the children’s education process:

Giving attention and good behavior

The parents should give much attention and good behavior to their son or daughter in order that they can learn and can change their personal behavior because someone do activity regularly and in habitually to increase the quality and quantity of behavior as a whole such as increasing the knowledge, attitude, understanding, skill, mindset, and other abilities  so that why the personal change of students will be better when interact with other persons and environment.

Giving good education

The parent has to responsible in educating their children well and make their children’s personality and give some good behavior that will keep standing in a long time so that the child will be accustomed. Because the family is as first environment for child to get the education, it’s said the first because most of the child’s life is in the family, so the most education received by the child is in the family. Family is early education for child because at first time the child know the world they born in the family environment and educated by the parent. So, the young experience is an important factors for the next growth of children.

Motivation

This aspect is very important for learning process. The parent should give attention to the children in order that they feel comfortable with the homework or assignment that is given by the teacher at school. By doing that, will make good communication between parent and children.  So, the child will not feel lazy to study the material and do the homework. Besides, the motivation of teachers is also important in learning process. Because by doing that, will influence the students or child what they want to get. Motivation has titan relation with interest. If the student or a child like to the subject they learn, so the motivation will appear to learn the subject seriously, till their curiosity will be strength and student or a child will eager to get the best at school. Besides, in the class the teacher should give motivation for the students in order that they are more spirit in studying in the class or out of the class.

Control student’s relationship

The parent should control their child’s relationship with his or her friends at school, at public environment, and other places when the child plays around with his or her friends. Because a friend can give advantages and disadvantages. A friend can give a help and solution for the child in learning process and able to increase the motivation for ourselves in order that the child keep spirit in getting the success. A friend also can give influence in performing the personality whether to positive or negative aspect.  That’s all depend on the relationship of the child. So, parent has important role in controlling their children.

Conclusion

The family has important role in learning process of child, especially the parent because they have the responsibility to give the education, motivation, affection, attention, and control the child regularly. The parent should be the public figure for their children by giving good behavior to them. It means that parent is as the teacher for their children.

The role of the family is more to form than to inform. We have to remember that children are like sponges they absorb all kinds of information destructive and constructive in the same manner. Very often adults are influenced negatively and can't handle some situations in their life, because they haven’t been taught to think and act independently. Teach your children or family members to think critically and analyze information that comes from everywhere.

The English movies, especially Hollywood movies have the aesthetic function. It is the products of multi-media, can give people a kind of audio-visual shock.             The Hollywood movies can change the culture of Chinese people in several  aspects. The Chinese people leave their old clothing and now pay more attention to the west life style such as brand, fashion, trend and etc. it is so different with twenty or thirty years ago, Chinese people dressed in blue or grey which is their own culture. When we watch Hollywood movies, we know more political ideas belong to USA and Great Britain. Beside that, these movies act as bridges between the east and the west which Chinese people can know and understand the different aspects of their cultures. They are also a means of communication.

Historical function of Hollywood movies tell the audience about the western culture. When we see the Hollywood movies, we will know the western cultures and the fact without realizing it, we are copying some of their life style. We should see from different sides, when we saw difference ofthe blue and the graymovies,we got to know the period of time in American history. The Chinese people indirectly learn more about the history of Great Britain and the other western histories.

The Chinese people can get the advantages by learning the social and moral function of Hollywood movies. These movies tell their ideas and values to the audience. They are paying more attention to give the story about individual. They tend to tell us the life of individual and way of his living. The Chinese people can know about democracy, freedom, and universal love from watching Hollywood movies especially in the United States. Beside that, they can learn about the history and the know more about the American society and the world. Beside that, the Chinese people can differentiate between the social and moral function of the Hollywood movies.

            The violence scenes influence the character of Chinese people in many aspects especially for children. The Hollywood movies give the negative effects for Chinese people which can not be denied. For example, the violence become the most serious social phenomenon that reflected in Hollywood movies. In reality, the spread of western cultures have been coming with violent scenes together. Those are shown in the Hollywood movies of “007” when one of the students said that although he got the information from that movie but he had said that 007 was the most typical violent movie. So, the Hollywood movies give the bad values for the audience. Besides, those are shown in the cinema of China, more and more violent scenes, terrorist scenes, and the movies of violent crime have been crammed before the eyes of Chinese audience. In the Hollywood movies show the bad characters to the audience such as killing, murdering with shotguns, and extremely cruel mean. Those condition make us unable to continue seeing them because the children usually will behave like that even their doll and toys and learn to solve problem by violence after seeing such movies.

The bad cultures of western movies have changed the Chinese people’s behavior in several aspects. The western movies make the Chinese people’s moral declined because they are full of sexual scenes such as bareness and sex. It can not be denied moreover recently condition, more and more young people in China begin to pay less attention to their sexual behavior. The sexual relationship has been common culture before getting marriage. Absolutely it does challenge the Chinese tradition moral and values. Besides, the western movies had brought the freedom of the sex to China. There are some Hollywood movies that have many problems such as porno, coprology, canals, and one-night love emerged and became prevalent.
